Google’s technology director Joel Klein has died at the same age as his son.
The Google product manager died of complications of Parkinson’s disease, Google’s blog post says.
Klein’s son, Alex, said in a statement: “My dad Joel, one of the most passionate and dedicated software engineers of his generation, passed away on Monday at age 55.”
The company says it will “remain in touch with Joel’s family.”
The news of Klein’s death comes as Google’s stock price has surged over the last few days.
It closed at $62.19 on Tuesday, up 4.4 percent in 2017.
It is up more than 30 percent since Friday.
Shares in the company have been trading higher in recent days.
Google was founded in 1999 and has grown into a worldwide leader in information technology, search and media services.
Klein started working at Google in 2004.
Google’s founder, Sergey Brin, left the company in 2005 to become chairman of Alphabet.
